Munba arrives at Observatorio 1873 Tourist Park

MAZATLAN - In 2024

It brings with it exciting news for marine life and culture lovers: The National Whale Museum (NUNMBA) will move into Mazatlan's Observatorio 1873 tourist park, offering an impressive display of its vast collection.

The MUNMBA is recognized for having the most extensive collection of marine osteology from the Sea of Cortez in Latin America. This exhibit will highlight specimens such as gray whales, different types of dolphins, turtles, and many other fascinating marine species.

Exhibition at a Glance

According to the environmental portal Son Playas, the first stage of the exhibition will provide 29 skeletons of mega marine fauna, mainly cetaceans. Visitors will be able to marvel at the skeletal pieces of cetaceans such as blue, minke and fin whales, a sperm whale and various types of dolphins. In addition, the collection includes sea turtles and pinnipeds such as seals, sea lions and elephant seals.
