Education, Science
& Conservation Actions

The Museo Nacional de la Ballena (MUNBA) has become a leading reference center in Mexico for education, conservation, research and actions aimed at the protection of whales in Mexican waters.

Tuesday-Sunday: 10 AM - 17 PM

Conservation Education

The main mission of this museum is education for the conservation of these marine giants and their habitat. Visitors can acquire in-depth knowledge about the life history of cetaceans through interactive exhibits, sensory experiences and one of the most diverse collections of cetacean skeletons in Mexico and Latin America.

Science for Conservation

Through cutting-edge research programs, MUNBA contributes to the knowledge and understanding of the biology, behavior and ecology of these marine animals. This research allows the implementation of more effective strategies for their protection and conservation.

Conservation Actions

Beyond being a place of admiration and learning, MUNBA plays a fundamental role in the conservation of these majestic creatures and their habitat. MUNBA also engages in direct action to protect whales, working closely with governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as the local community. It participates in rescue efforts for stranded and entangled whales, awareness campaigns about the importance of marine conservation, and the promotion of more effective conservation policies.
